| Abstract: |
Disruptive classroom behavior is a common challenge in elementary education, affecting both teaching and learning processes. In this study, it examined the strategies teachers at Kitubo Central School used to manage such behaviors, to provide practical insights for future educators. Specifically, it aimed to identify the types of disruptive behaviors frequently observed and to explore the methods teachers use to address them while supporting students' learning. A qualitative descriptive research design was used in this study. Five teachers were selected through purposive sampling based on their classroom experience and involvement in managing student behavior. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis to uncover patterns and themes in teachers' responses. The study found that common disruptive behaviors included attention-seeking, difficulty with self-regulation, poor manners, talking out of turn, excessive noise, and hyperactivity. These behaviors often disrupted lessons and affected classroom engagement. Teachers reported using strategies such as positive reinforcement, clear rules, engaging teaching methods, and supportive teacher-student relationships to manage these behaviors effectively. The study concludes that effective classroom management relies on consistent strategies, clear expectations, and strong teacher-student rapport. The findings provide valuable guidance for future elementary teachers in creating structured, supportive, and productive learning environments. |
