| Abstract: |
The article “The AI Advantage: Streamlining Mergers and Acquisitions” examines the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in transforming the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) process. As M&A transactions represent a key strategy for inorganic corporate growth, they involve complex stages such as target identification, valuation, due diligence, regulatory compliance, and post-merger integration. The study highlights how AI technologies—including machine learning, natural language processing, and generative AI—enhance efficiency, accuracy, and strategic decision-making across these stages.
AI-driven tools assist in identifying suitable acquisition targets by analyzing vast datasets and detecting patterns, trends, and potential synergies. During due diligence, AI automates the review of financial records, contracts, intellectual property, litigation history, employment policies, and ESG compliance, thereby reducing time, cost, and human error. AI-based financial modelling also enables more accurate and data-driven valuation by integrating both financial and non-financial indicators. Additionally, AI supports post-merger integration by identifying operational overlaps and monitoring integration progress in real time.
While recognizing these advantages, the article also addresses challenges such as data privacy risks, confidentiality concerns, and algorithmic bias, emphasizing the importance of ethical AI governance and robust data protection mechanisms. The study concludes that AI functions as a strategic enabler that complements human expertise, strengthens decision-making, and enhances competitive advantage in an increasingly complex M&A environment. |
