Abstract: This study aims to assess the level of 21st-century skills among students in the Open High School Program, particularly in problem-solving, information literacy, and critical thinking. The Open High School Program is an alternative education program designed for students who are unable to attend regular school due to various reasons, allowing them to continue their education in a self-directed manner. It serves as a vital solution for learners facing barriers to formal education. The study employed a descriptive research design, and data were collected from 198 OHSP students in Grades 8 and 9 across three divisions in Bukidnon. Findings revealed that, overall, students demonstrated a low level of proficiency in 21st-century skills. Results also indicated a significant difference in the students’ skills based on gender and learning styles, except for information literacy, which showed no significant difference in relation to learning styles. The low proficiency suggests that students face challenges in six key learning aspects: explanation, interpretation, application, perspective, empathy, and self-knowledge. Notably, there was considerable difficulty in relating perspectives across different contexts and in reflecting on their own experiences. The findings highlight the need to develop students’ competencies in essential 21st-century skills.
