| Abstract: |
The current study uses interviewed and surveyed data to construct a balanced data set and applies the Malmquist Index method to generate the Total Factor Productivity Changes and components to examine productivity of the institutions. It also applies the Tobit regression method to examine the impact of influential factors on the productivity of the universities. The results show that productivity of the universities declines by 1.8 per cent during the study period. This finding is different from that self-reported by the universities. Technological and managerial performance is blamed for the reduction in the productivity of the universities. The number of enrollments and other influential factors significantly affect the productivity of the universities. |
