Abstract: |
This research investigates the technological competence of teachers in last-mile schools, focusing on addressing infrastructural challenges in remote areas, specifically in Maramag, Bukidnon. Twenty teachers from five last-mile schools participated, with a survey instrument rigorously validated for reliability through Cronbach's Alpha. Demographic analysis revealed a gender disparity (85% female, 15% male) and a younger teaching staff, highlighting the need for targeted professional development. Competence level analysis demonstrated commendable technological proficiency but identified areas for improvement in troubleshooting and software application use. Gender-neutral and age-inclusive technological landscapes were indicated by analysis of variance, promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities for professional growth. Thematic analysis uncovered challenges such as unreliable internet, limited technical support, and insufficient resources. The study emphasizes the potential for enhancing last-mile education through strategic interventions, inclusive initiatives, and targeted professional development, with implications for educators, instructional designers, policymakers, administrators, leaders, and researchers alike to enhance professional development programs, invest in infrastructure, prioritize mentorship, explore the relationship between educational background and technological competence, and promote continuous engagement with technology-focused professional development for educators in last-mile schools. |
