Abstract: Researchers report on two studies that developed and validated a student cyberloafing scale for use in online education. In the first study, an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was performed with data from undergraduate students (n = 173), suggesting a four-factor structure which explained 62.46% of the total variance. The four factors include social networking, shopping, collecting, and betting. In the second study, the proposed structure was validated in a new sample (n = 150) through a confirmatory factor analyses (CFA) and testing relationships between cyberloafing and other constructs in its nomological network. The current scale may serve as a useful tool for further research on cyberloafing in online educational settings.
