Abstract: |
This study explores the lived experiences of teachers pursuing post-graduate education while managing classroom duties, focusing on the barriers they face and coping strategies they use. Conducted in the first quarter of the 2025–2026 academic year in Valencia City, Bukidnon, Philippines, it aims to inform policies that support teachers’ professional growthUsing a qualitative phenomenological approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 experienced elementary and secondary school teachers. Participants were purposefully selected based on their extensive teaching experience and active pursuit of post-graduate education. The interviews focused on capturing their personal challenges and experiences in balancing teaching duties with advanced studies. Data were analyzed through Colaizzi’s method, with themes validated by participants. Findings show that while teachers are motivated by professional growth and career advancement, challenges like limited time, heavy workloads, financial constraints, and lack of institutional support hinder their full engagement in post-graduate education. Family, colleagues, mentors, and flexible academic policies provide crucial support. The study highlights the need for comprehensive institutional assistance, flexible programs, and mental health resources to help teachers succeed in post-graduate studies and improve educational quality. |
