| Abstract: |
During the post tsunami Aceh rehabilitation and reconstruction in 2004, four Tsunami Escape Buildings (TEB) were built in Meuraxa sub district, Banda Aceh. This building was built in this area because the Meuraxa region is a lowland area that is near by the sea. The existence of a tsunami escape building as a temporary evacuation place should be equipped with facilities for emergency response. This is considered important because escape building is a place for evacuating victims who under certain conditions have emergency needs. Therefore this study aims to evaluate the completeness of the emergency response facilities owned by the tsunami escape building in Meuraxa sub-district. The research method used was descriptive qualitative research. There were three stages in this study; interviews, observations, and document analysis. This method is used to determine the current condition of the escape building facilities. Based on the result of the study, it was found that there were no emergency response facilities contained in the escape building of Meuraxa. This condition should not occured because escape building is one of the tsunami evacuation sites in which tsunami can not be predicted when it occurs. This condition indicated that tsunami escape building in Meuraxa sub-district is not ready for facilities to face the future tsunami disaster. |
