Abstract
Research Area: Education
KeyWord: decision-making capabilities, curricular competence, instructional leadership
Abstract: This study examined the relationship between decision-making capabilities, curricular competence, adversity quotient, and the instructional leadership of school heads. It aimed to identify which variables best predict effective instructional leadership. Utilizing a descriptive-correlational research design, the study surveyed 300 public elementary and secondary school heads across three divisions in Bukidnon. The Pearson product-moment correlation and multiple regression analysis were employed to explore the connections among the variables. Findings revealed that school heads displayed very high levels of decision-making abilities, particularly in negotiation and communication skills, as well as strong curricular competence, especially in community relations and curriculum instruction. However, their adversity quotient was moderate, indicating room for improvement in resilience during challenges. A significant correlation was found between instructional leadership and the independent variables, with decision-making capabilities emerging as a key predictor of effective instructional leadership. The study recommends enhancing professional development programs focused on decision-making skills and resilience training to strengthen instructional leadership among school heads. Additionally, it emphasizes the need for targeted support in financial management to improve overall curricular competence.
