Abstract: Studies have demonstrated that tinnitus is a distressing symptom that may significantly affect the quality of life of the sufferer. The focus of these studies primarily concerned with patients only but does not pay attention to those lives around the patients and how it affects their lives too. This study aims to explore this gap by understanding the effects of tinnitus on patients and their relatives. This study deploys a cross-sectional study design to understand the effort of tinnitus in patients and their relatives. To draw a representative sample, the study follows a purposive sampling technique and locates 100 participants best fitted with study criteria including both patients and their relative living with the patient. Data were collected by using the THI questionnaire (Tinnitus Handicapped Inventory) was used for assessing their emotional disturbances. The study results showed that patients with the severe impact of tinnitus and their relatives become moderate impact of emotional disturbance and patients with the moderate impact of tinnitus and their relatives become mild impact of emotional disturbance. Statistics Analysis showed a significant association (p=0.00) between hearing loss with THI score both patients and relatives. The finding shows that tinnitus THI score was not significantly correlated between Age, Gender. This study suggests that counselling has to be provided for patients and relatives or their family members to avoid the negative impact of emotional, social relationship, and mental health.
