Abstract: Self-learning ability is a special and important existence in the composition of personal ability. Cultivating students with strong self-ability can not only help them increase their knowledge and wisdom but also promote the in-depth development of their physical and mental health. As the vanguard of quality training, junior high school mathematics should take on the important task of cultivating students' self-learning ability, but it is not satisfactory because of the backward concept and method. Starting from the current situation of the cultivation of junior high school mathematics self-study ability, the article explores the effective reference and exploration of its cultivation methods.
