Abstract: |
This review explores the key factors that contribute to the success of Canada’s education system, emphasizing equity and innovation as foundational elements in governance, learner support, teacher development, and curriculum development. Canada’s decentralized governance framework enables provinces and territories to customize policies to their local contexts, fostering responsiveness and active stakeholder engagement. The education system prioritizes equity and inclusion, ensuring that all learners, including Indigenous students and newcomers, receive quality education and necessary support. Rigorous teacher preparation is complemented by ongoing professional development and collaborative cultures that enhance teaching quality. The curriculum effectively balances foundational knowledge with essential 21st-century skills, undergoing regular updates through research and consultation to maintain its relevance. Together, these interconnected components create an educational environment that promotes high achievement and equity. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers and educators aiming to enhance education systems across diverse contexts. This review is grounded in an analysis of peer-reviewed literature, government reports, and international education data. |
