Abstract: |
The hospitality industry depends on trained personnel with practical skills. This study examined the training perception of male and female Hospitality Management students at Central Mindanao University (CMU) who received training at Café de Musuan. The effectiveness of the training program using Kirkpatrick's Model of Reaction, Learning, Behavior, and Results will be determined. Also, it would be established whether perception is significantly different between the two genders. A survey questionnaire was distributed to 109 third-year Hospitality Management students. A quantitative research design was employed in this study. Descriptive statistics and one-way ANOVA were used to analyze data. A Likert scale questionnaire assessed the student's perception of the training program. Results: Overall, students perceived satisfaction with the training program; the "Learning" section scored the highest, implying that the learning occurred in the students' minds. There was no major difference between males and females; the males had marginally higher scores in the "Results" and "Behavior" sections. The conclusion is that both male and female students positively perceive the training program in Café de Musuan. The findings show that the training can equip students with practical knowledge and skills. However, further improvements could be made to maximize the program and ensure that both genders learn equally. The faculty should maintain quality hands-on practice at Café de Musuan, improve facilities and equipment, and invest in technology-based training tools. Ensure fair gender rotation of positions to avoid bias and to allow equal opportunity for students to learn. Future studies should be directed to look into the careers of those students who underwent training at Café de Musuan. |
