Abstract: The world is witnessing an increase in the frequency and severity of natural hazards, due to the effect of climate change. These risks are additional problems for the poor as their lives and livelihoods significantly depend on natural resources. The north-eastern part of Madagascar is the most exposed to cyclone because of its geographical position. In 2017, a severe tropical cyclone hit SAVA region and caused significant damage. The purpose of this study is to analyze the resilience of households to cyclones, and then examine the characteristics that can strengthen their resilience.
