Student’s Perception, Retention Policy |
Abstract: |
The main purpose of this study was to assess the level of perception of students towards the retention policy of Hospitality Management at Central Mindanao University. The study used quantitative approach with a descriptive research design to determine the level of perception of students towards retention policy in terms of: (a) academic performance, (b) emotional aspect, and (c) student experience. The researchers used stratified random sampling in determining the respondents of the study, which resulted to a total population of two hundred thirty-five (235) respondents. The data was collected through a self-made questionnaire validated by the professors of Department of Hospitality Management. The recorded data was analyzed and interpreted statistically using descriptive statistics, including mean, frequency, percentage, and ANOVA. The findings revealed that students generally perceive the retention policy positively, recognizing its role in fostering academic motivation and clear performance standards. However, the policy also induces emotional strain, such as anxiety, particularly among younger students. Fourth year and older students reported more favorable views, reflecting their greater emotional resilience and familiarity with the program. No significant differences in perception were observed based on sex. |
