Abstract: This study aims to analyze four fables from Mindanao, along with their context, symbolism, and cultural messages. Through the analysis of "Lalapindigowa-i: Kung Bakit Maliit ang Beywang ng Putakti," "Si Haring Tamaraw at ang Daga," "Ang Aso at si Ipis," and "Naging Sultan si Pilandok," it was discovered that these fables possess a profound connection to the natural environment, social structure, and collective values of indigenous communities in Mindanao. These fables serve as instruments to pass down cultural lessons and wisdom, showcasing rich symbolism that portrays values such as cooperation, resilience, intelligence, and respect for nature. This research highlights the importance of these fables as living cultural heritage of the Mindanaoan communities and how they maintain traditions and collective identity amidst modernization and change.
