Abstract: |
The labor force and unemployment rate are key indicators in assessing economic development and the stability of the labor market in each country. These indicators not only reflect the size of the economy but also indicate the distribution of human resources and the ability to engage in production and business activities in society. Especially in the context of a global economy facing numerous major challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, fluctuations in the labor force and unemployment rate have become more pronounced and require in-depth study.
In Vietnam, the labor force has always played an important role in maintaining economic development. However, in the period from 2019 to 2021, the economy was heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which not only changed the industrial structure but also had a profound effect on labor groups, particularly women and urban workers. While the overall unemployment rate fluctuated over the years, the unemployment rate in urban areas saw significant volatility, reflecting changes in the employment structure and labor market demand in the new context.
The objective of this paper is to analyze the fluctuations in the labor force and unemployment rate in Vietnam during the period from 2019 to 2021. The paper will focus on key labor groups, such as female workers, urban workers, and the unemployment rate within each group. Through this, the paper aims to clarify the impact of the pandemic on the labor market and offer insights and recommendations to improve labor quality and promote the recovery of the economy in the coming years.
