Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a severe impact on most of the aspects not only all around the world but also in Viet Nam. It has forced education systems worldwide to find an alternatives method to continue the process. As a solution, online teaching and learning has been used by teachers and students at schools, colleges and universities. This article analyzes the challenges and the effects of COVID-19 pandemic on the autonomous learning performance of students at Thai Nguyen University of Economics and Business Administration (TUEBA). The results show the different challenges among the significant positive effects of the COVID-19 pandamic on students’ learning online performance. We have found that the challenges help create the effects.It is significant to adapt not only activities but also change the students’ attitude to online learning during the pandemic.Based on the results, we conclude that COVID-19 pandemic has helped us turn difficulties into opportunities. Positive attitudes towards learning can help students overcome some of the potential challenges posed by online learning especially, it has changed students’ learning attitude and strategies to a more autonomous learning performance, improving their efficiency of online learning and studying.
