Abstract: |
This study explored the relationship between psychological well-being, organizational commitment, and teaching competence among elementary teachers in four districts of Quezon, Division of Bukidnon, during the 2023-2024 academic year. Using a descriptive correlation research design, data were collected from 306 teachers through a validated survey questionnaire. The research focused on three key constructs: psychological well-being, organizational commitment, and teaching competence. Results indicated that teachers demonstrated high levels of psychological well-being, particularly in autonomy and self-acceptance. Similarly, organizational commitment was robust, with a notable emphasis on continuance commitment. Teaching competence was rated very highly, showcasing strengths in classroom management and evaluation skills. Correlation analyses revealed significant relationships among teaching competence, psychological well-being, and organizational commitment, with self-acceptance and autonomy exhibiting stronger positive correlations. Regression analysis highlighted self-acceptance and continuance commitment as significant predictors of teaching competence, while purpose in life and affective commitment negatively influenced it. These findings underscore the critical need for professional development initiatives that enhance teachers' psychological well-being and address the potential drawbacks of an overemphasis on personal life goals. Ultimately, the study advocates for fostering a supportive environment that balances teachers' well-being and commitment, thereby promoting effective teaching practices and improved educational outcomes. |
