| Abstract: |
dentification and management of spinal arachnoid cysts pose significant challenges in the fields of neurology and neurosurgery. While these lesions are often benign, they can lead to compression of the spinal cord, resulting in a variety of debilitating neurological symptoms. This case report describes the case of an 8-year-old boy suffering from progressive weakness of the lower limbs, myelopathy, and gait ataxia over a period of several years. Neurological examination revealed abnormalities consistent with spinal cord compression, confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging showing extradural spinal arachnoid cysts at the lumbar level. The patient underwent a complex surgical intervention, resulting in significant improvement in his postoperative neurological status. This case highlights the importance of early recognition and multidisciplinary management of spinal arachnoid cysts to prevent neurological complications and improve patients' quality of life. |
