| Abstract: |
The This study investigates the perceived employability of Grade 12 Technical Vocational Livelihood (TVL) students in the Matalam Districts, Philippines, focusing on the interplay between technical skills, soft skills, training quality, internship experiences, local job market conditions, and family economic status. Despite the growing number of TVL graduates, there remains limited understanding of the specific factors that influence their readiness and success in securing employment. Drawing on a quantitative approach, the research utilizes surveys and questionnaires to assess the extent to which technical and soft skills, the quality of educational training, and participation in internships or work immersion programs predict employability rates among TVL students. The study also examines how local economic conditions and family backgrounds shape students’ perceptions of their preparedness for the workforce.
Findings from the literature highlight that both technical and soft skills are critical for employability, with employers increasingly valuing communication, teamwork, and adaptability alongside industry-specific competencies. High-quality training programs and strong partnerships between educational institutions and industry stakeholders further enhance job prospects by providing relevant, practical experiences. Participation in internships and work immersion programs is shown to significantly improve employment outcomes by equipping students with real-world skills and professional networks. However, local job market conditions and family economic status continue to play a substantial role in shaping employment opportunities and perceived readiness.
The study’s results are expected to provide actionable insights for policymakers, educators, employers, and community stakeholders, informing strategies to enhance vocational education and better align it with labor market demands. By identifying key determinants of employability and perceived readiness among TVL students, this research aims to contribute to the development of more effective educational frameworks that support successful school-to-work transitions and promote economic growth within local communities.
