Abstract: |
This study discusses the implementation of strategies identified to improve the E-learning system at Masters in Vocational Pedagogy program (MVP), Kyambogo University (KyU). The study involved 36 participants who were drawn from the MVP program community since they were direct beneficiaries of the system at the time. Participatory action research (PAR) was employed and data were obtained from work processes analysis, future workshops, and observation. However, the findings for this qualitative research found-out that despite the MVP program’s proclamation that it had fully-fledged computer laboratory; yet continued to register low Kyambogo University E-learning Management System (KELMS) use. The paper argues that laxity by MVP administration to follow-up KELMS use, negative attitude and digital illiteracy were factors that contributed to a low level of KELMS use. Strategies implemented were compulsory practical tasks are set for the system users, Uploading and downloading of all class activities into or from the system, involvement of KELMS administrator as KELMS usage trainer, provide new laptops to equip cohort Six MVP students, and lastly improve KELMS platform outlook by KELMS administrator for easy accessibility, flexibility, and scalability of the system. |
