Abstract: Bearing the WHO definition in mind the Basic Life Skills curriculum offers youth the emotional, social and intellectual tools needed to achieve success in life _ on a personal level, interpersonal level and within their community and work places. Life skills education contributes to basic education, gender equality, democracy, good citizenship, childcare and protection, quality and efficiency of education system, the promotion of lifelong learning, quality of life, and the promotion of peace. The 21st century Life skills are flexibility, initiative, social skills, productivity and leadership. Life skills are the bigger sphere which also includes social skills. A social skill is any competence facilitating interaction and communication with others where social rules and relations are created, communicated and changed in verbal and nonverbal ways. Social skills are defined as the specific social abilities that are necessary to interact with, and relate to others in an efficient, respectful and mutually satisfactory manner. This study is an attempt to find out the level of social skills of secondary school girls and Madarsa girls students. Descriptive Survey Method was used with a sample of 120 students 60 from school girls and 60 from Madarsa girls. All the students were selected from Hyderabad city. Simple random sampling technique was adopted. A self made tool Social Skills Scale was used for data collection. Reliability and validity of the tool was maintained. For the sake of analyzing data Percentage and Chi Square used. Findings of the study are discussed in detail in the research study.
