| Abstract: |
Human beings are not machines; they require rest and recovery to maintain both physical and mental health. The regulation of working hours and rest periods is essential not only to ensure workers' well-being but also to promote long-term productivity and quality of life. This paper examines the current legal framework surrounding the right to reasonable working hours and rest periods for employees in Vietnam. The Labor Code provides clear regulations on work hours, including daily, weekly, and annual limits, while also ensuring adequate rest breaks during working hours. Special provisions are made for vulnerable groups, such as pregnant women, minors, the elderly, and workers in hazardous conditions, allowing for reduced working hours without affecting their income. The paper highlights the importance of these regulations in promoting a healthy and sustainable workforce, ensuring a balance between work demands and personal life, and enhancing labor productivity in the long run. Additionally, the legal protection of workers' right to rest contributes to the prevention of workplace stress, burnout, and health issues, supporting a fair and productive working environment. |
