Abstract
Research Area: Telecommunication Engineering
KeyWord: telehealth services, service quality, trust, and intention to patronize
Abstract: With the increasing reliance on digital platforms in healthcare, telehealth has become a crucial means of expanding access to medical services, particularly in developing countries like the Philippines. This study examined the influence of telehealth service attributes and trust on users’ intention to continue using these services. Employing a quantitative descriptive-correlational design, data were collected from 400 Filipino participants with prior telehealth experience. The sample was drawn from the 800 ZED client database of approximately 7,000 individuals, using systematic random sampling based on Taro Yamane’s formula, where every 5th individual was selected. Structured questionnaires grounded in the Theory of Planned Behavior (Ajzen, 1991) and the Technology Acceptance Model (Davis, 1989) guided the data collection. Descriptive statistics (mean, frequency, percentage, and standard deviation) were used to describe participant profiles, while regression analysis identified key predictors of intention to patronize telehealth services. Findings indicated that participants held generally highly positive views of telehealth, reporting high satisfaction with service quality and trust. Affordability and marketing strategies also shaped user attitudes, though to a lesser extent. Among the predictors, service quality and trust emerged as the strongest determinants of continued telehealth use. The study recommends prioritizing strategies that enhance service quality and cultivate trust to sustain and broaden telehealth adoption. Future research may examine the roles of digital literacy, user engagement, and provider communication in promoting telehealth use, especially among underserved populations in the Philippines.
