Abstract
Today in the contemporary India, medical science is growing rapidly. The medical facilities are reaching at door steps effectively but still it is viewed that individuals are delaying in right initiation for their treatment and not changing their lifestyle. It is observed that the poor lifestyle of people is responsible for the chronic diseases like, Cancer, Cardio vascular diseases, Diabetes, Blood pressure and etc. The timely and right initiation towards treatment for any disease may lessen the risk of epidemics and the cancer is one of them. If individual follows the healthy lifestyle and correct medical treatment, it may lessen the chances of chronic diseases as well as lessen the burden and effect on individual’s family. As number of cancer patients is increasing, due to increase in incidence of cancer and increase in life expectancy in India, role of a Professional Social Work is becoming immensely important for a cancer patient.
