Abstract: |
Japan consistently ranks among the top countries in the PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) tests, highlighting the importance of understanding what drives its educational success. However, there is limited research that clearly explains how governance, curriculum design, and student support work together to produce these strong results. This study aims to explore how these three factors contribute to Japan’s high performance in PISA assessments. Using a mixed-method approach, the research analyzes government policies, curriculum frameworks, and support systems through document reviews and interviews with educators and policymakers. The findings reveal that Japan’s clear governance structure, well-organized curriculum, and strong focus on student support create a balanced environment that promotes learning and achievement. These results suggest that other countries could improve their education systems by adopting similar strategies that emphasize coordinated governance, relevant curriculum, and comprehensive support for students. This study helps fill a gap in understanding the combined effects of these factors on educational success and offers practical ideas for improving student outcomes worldwide. |
