Abstract: |
The evaluation theory framework is a part of functional linguistics developed by James R. Martin and other scholars in the 1990s. Evaluation theory plays a significant role in discourse and text analysis. It is primarily applied in fields such as news reporting, foreign language teaching, and translation as it helps address various language-related issues. In foreign language teaching, educators can utilize it to enhance listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills for their students. Evaluation systems are crucial for text analysis and discourse, making them effective for developing writing skills in language learners, especially those studying Chinese. This article highlights the need to build a vocabulary and structure system based on the evaluation theory framework according to the curriculum used by the department. This system aims to stimulate and expand vocabulary, enhance expressive methods, and nurture argumentative skills in learners, helping them form independent opinions through the writing process. |
