Abstract: |
The tall structures are most influenced by lateral forces in seismic prone areas. In this manner it is essential to have enough lateral stability to oppose lateral forces in tall building. In the seismic design of buildings, reinforced concrete structural walls, or shear walls, act as main earthquake resisting system. Shear wall highly resists the lateral forces acting on the structural, in addition shear wall significantly influence on the overall behaviour of the structure. This research represents the response of G+10 storeys building with different positioning of shear walls using both Equivalent Static Method (Seismic Coefficient Method) and Response Spectrum Analysis. Four different Models of RC buildings, one without shear wall and remaining three models with different locations of shear walls have been studied. The obtained result confirming that the suitable location of shear wall having an effective performance of building during earthquakes ground motion. Among the four studied models; Model4 that having core shear wall displayed better performance as compared to all other Models. |
