| Abstract: |
The aim of this paper is to empirically verify the importance of transport infrastructure in a developing economy, specifically the case of Madagascar. To carry out our analysis, we use six indicators measuring the performance of public infrastructure and the country's economic growth, all over a period from 1991 to 2022. We use VAR models to estimate the parameters and assess the relationships between the variables. Our results show a significant impact of air traffic to Madagascar, as well as of infrastructure directly related to trade, thus corroborating theoretical findings on the economics of space and transport. |
