| Abstract: |
Proximate and Mineral analysis were conducted on the fruits of Gardenia erubescens plant(a wild plant commonly found is some parts of Northern Nigeria like Kebbi State) the analysis was done using AOAC Methods 2000. The results of the fruits showed that it contains a good moisture, ash, crude fibre, crude protein, crude lipids and good carbohydrate and energy value.. The mineral analysis also showed that the fruits are rich in Calcium, Phosphorus with appreciable amount of iron and copper. The fruits was found to contain low sodium. The fruit is therefore a good diet for hypertensive patients. Children can also benefit much from the fruits for bones and teeth development. |
