| Abstract: |
Humphead wrasse (Cheilinus undulatus) or also known as napoleon fish is a leading commodity in fishery exports from Indonesia, because Indonesia's coral waters are its potential habitat. Apart from the slow growth and low reproduction, the management of the humphead wrasse (Cheilinus undulatus) fishery is currently in the category of over exploitation. Due to its high demand, this fish is facing a declining population threat over time and has been included in the endangered species in the IUCN Red List. Conservation efforts to tackle these issues are currently being applied by many parties including government and conservationist. This paper will discuss more about the conservation status of Humphead wrasse (Cheilinus undulatus) fish in Indonesia and future strategic conservation plan to protect the fish form extinction. |
