Abstract: |
This study investigates the impact of collaborative leadership strategies on enhancing teacher engagement in school decision-making processes. The general objective is to create a more inclusive and participatory educational environment by leveraging the contributions of all educators. To achieve this, the study implements Collaborative Leadership Teams (CLTs) and professional development workshops to improve collaboration and communication between teachers and administrators.
The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data collection. Quantitative data were collected through pre- and post-intervention surveys administered to teachers and administrators to measure changes in engagement levels and perceptions of leadership practices. Qualitative data were gathered through focus group discussions and semi-structured interviews, providing in-depth insights into participants' experiences and perceptions.
The results indicate significant improvements in teacher engagement and satisfaction with leadership practices. Teachers reported feeling more involved in decision-making and valued by their leadership team. Qualitative findings highlight increased opportunities for collaboration, enhanced professional development, and a positive shift in school culture. However, challenges such as the time commitment required for collaborative activities were noted, suggesting the need for streamlined processes.
Based on these findings, the study recommends integrating collaborative leadership into existing structures to minimize additional teacher burdens. It also suggests ongoing professional development and structured platforms for collaboration to sustain engagement levels. Overall, the research underscores the effectiveness of collaborative leadership strategies in fostering teacher engagement and improving school culture, offering valuable insights for educational leaders seeking to enhance teacher involvement and school performance.
