Abstract: This article explores the impact of blended learning on first-year students from mountainous regions studying at the TNU School of Foreign Languages (SFL), Thai Nguyen University, Vietnam. Blended learning, which integrates traditional classroom teaching with online components, is becoming increasingly popular as a means to enhance educational outcomes. A survey of 150 students, representing various ethnic groups and rural backgrounds, was conducted to evaluate their experiences with blended learning. The study aimed to assess student engagement, satisfaction with online resources, the challenges encountered, and the perceived effectiveness of this learning approach. The findings revealed that while blended learning offers advantages such as flexibility and teacher support, significant barriers persist, particularly in terms of technology access, internet connectivity, and student motivation. Based on these findings, the article proposes recommendations for improving blended learning in mountainous areas, including the enhancement of infrastructure, the improvement of content quality, and the introduction of more offline learning opportunities to better support these students.
