Abstract: In recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the need for gender equality and LGBTQ rights in educational settings, particularly in conservative regions like Bukidnon, Philippines. This study explores learners' perceptions of the LGBTQ community in selected public and private schools, revealing significant gaps in understanding and acceptance shaped by traditional gender roles and heteronormative beliefs. Despite existing educational policies aimed at promoting inclusivity, their inconsistent implementation has left students with outdated views on gender and sexuality. Utilizing qualitative methods such as in-depth interviews and focus group discussions, the research highlights a growing awareness of LGBTQ diversity among students, yet also uncovers persistent misconceptions regarding complex gender identities. The findings emphasize the necessity for comprehensive education on these topics to foster acceptance and reduce discrimination. Ultimately, this study aims to inform educational reforms that promote inclusivity, providing valuable insights that can guide future practices in schools to ensure learners are equipped with the knowledge needed to navigate a diverse world effectively.
