Abstract: In the context of rapid global digital transformation, financial technology (Fintech) is increasingly demonstrating its crucial role in restructuring service industries—particularly tourism, a sector characterized by high consumer interaction and a strong reliance on payment systems, service booking platforms, and data management. This paper focuses on analyzing the relationship between Fintech and the tourism industry, clarifying Fintech’s key roles such as enhancing customer experience, optimizing business operations, expanding access to financial services for both consumers and small enterprises, and increasing transparency and security in tourism-related transactions. In addition to its potential, the paper also identifies and examines major challenges in the application of Fintech within the tourism sector. These include legal barriers, information security concerns, technological gaps among user groups, shortages of specialized human resources, and the risk of over-dependence on third parties. Based on this analysis, the paper proposes strategic directions and policy recommendations to support the effective integration of Fintech into the tourism ecosystem—such as developing a flexible legal framework, investing in digital infrastructure, nurturing a digital workforce, and fostering innovation. The research findings affirm that the application of Fintech in tourism is not merely a trend, but an inevitable path toward advancing the industry in a smarter, more efficient, and sustainable direction in the digital era.
