Abstract: The expansion of education in the Philippines has reached remote communities, yet teachers in last-mile schools face significant challenges. In Bukidnon, a province with geographically isolated and resource-limited schools, the reassignment of Senior High School teachers to larger, urban schools involves complex transitions with both difficulties and opportunities. While teacher mobility and retention have been studied, there is a limited understanding of the lived experiences of teachers moving specifically from last-mile to big schools, especially regarding the support systems that aid their adaptation. This study aims to explore the trials and triumphs of Senior High School teachers in Bukidnon who have transitioned from last-mile to big schools, focusing on their experiences, challenges, coping mechanisms, and recommendations for future transferees. Employing a qualitative, phenomenological approach, six experienced teachers were purposively selected to provide in-depth insights through validated, open-ended questionnaires. Thematic analysis was used to identify key patterns in their narratives. Findings reveal that teachers from last-mile schools exhibit adaptability and resilience. However, they face intensified workloads, environmental pressures, and the need to adjust to new administrative cultures in larger schools. Coping strategies center on seeking collegial support and leveraging mentorship, while successful transitions depend on strong social networks and institutional resources. The study highlights the importance of implementing targeted support systems, mentorship programs, and policy reforms that prioritize both professional development and personal well-being. These insights inform future directions for educational leaders and policymakers to enhance teacher integration, retention, and educational quality in diverse school environments.
