Abstract: |
This qualitative phenomenological study explores the experiences of eight newly promoted Master Teachers from elementary and secondary schools within the Division of Valencia, Bukidnon, Philippines. It investigates their preparations for promotion, the struggles and pressures encountered after promotion, coping mechanisms, and recommendations for aspiring Master Teachers. Using in-depth interviews and Colaizzi’s Seven Step Descriptive Phenomenological Technique, the study identified four key themes: comprehensive and reflective preparation rooted in professional development and documentation; increased responsibilities and expectations leading to workload and role-related stress; proactive and adaptive coping strategies including time management, self-care, professional growth, and seeking support; and the importance of continuous preparation and professional growth as foundations for successful promotion. Findings reveal that while thorough preparation supports success, the transition brings significant challenges that require resilience and adaptive strategies. The study highlights the complex, multifaceted nature of promotion and adjustment to the Master Teacher role, emphasizing the balance between administrative competence, leadership, and personal well-being. |
