Abstract: |
This paper explores the trends and policy shifts in the internationalization of education within the Philippine context, emphasizing the integration of global education goals, cross-border partnerships, and curriculum internationalization. The adoption of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) in the K-12 curriculum underscores the country’s commitment to inclusive, equitable, and quality education. Programs such as teacher and student exchanges, foreign language inclusion, and global citizenship education further enhance the global competitiveness of Filipino learners. However, the implementation of these initiatives in remote elementary schools presents significant challenges, including infrastructure limitations, resource constraints, and socio-economic disparities. Innovative policies, such as technology-driven solutions and localized teacher training programs, have emerged to address these barriers, but gaps remain, particularly in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas. This study highlights the need for strategic multi-stakeholder collaborations and adaptive approaches to ensure that internationalization efforts are both inclusive and contextually relevant, enabling the Philippines to achieve a globally competitive yet culturally grounded education system. |
