Abstract: This paper investigated the effect of keeping listening journals on student’s listening skill scores. 74 upper-intermediate students formed a control group and an experimental group (37 students in each) in this study, with the latter listening extensively outside classroom context and recording their practice by keeping listening journals during thirteen weeks. Data were collected through pre and post-tests as well as journals analysis. Paired and Independent Samples t-tests were used for calculating pre and post test scores while journals analysis reveal listening comprehension problems conceptualized by Anderson (1995) and Goh (2000). Findings unveiled significant differences between the two groups and main listening problems, thereby helping to inform pedagogical approaches and promote student-centered language learning environments.
