Abstract: English speaking skill is considered as one of the most important skills which must be master by the students. As we all know, the ability of the learner’s speaking is thought to be the success in learning English. The purpose of this survey was to develop students’ speaking skill by applying storytelling technique toward the 22 first year students of advance class during the first semester 2021-2022 academic year. Because speaking skill is important since the success is measured one’s ability to carry out a conversation in a language (Nunan, 1991). Therefore, by applying some techniques or methods to teaching and learning English can help the students improve their speaking skill. Storytelling technique has been known as one of teaching activities in second or foreign language classes. Based on the fact of TUEBA’s students, we conducted a survey in order to know the result of of storytelling technique in improving students’ speaking skill. The result of the speaking test showed that Storytelling not only improved the students’ vocabulary, grammar but also comprehension, fluency,and pronunciation. Thus, storytelling could be said to be an effective way to improve students’ speaking skill at TUEBA.
