Abstract: |
This article review examines the process of internationalization in higher education, exploring its advantages and drawbacks as presented in the original article. Internationalization is defined broadly to include student and staff exchanges, global research partnerships, curriculum development, and cultural exchange, all aimed at improving educational quality and preparing students for a globalized world (Jibeen & Khan, 2015). The review highlights key benefits such as enhanced academic quality, development of cross-cultural competencies, economic gains for host countries, and enriched learning environments due to cultural diversity (Knight, 2004). It also addresses significant challenges including the commercialization of education, academic inequality, brain drain from developing countries, difficulties in quality assurance, and risks to local cultural identities (Altbach & Knight, 2007). The review further discusses strategic recommendations to maximize the benefits of internationalization while mitigating its risks. These include fostering balanced partnerships, strengthening quality assurance, promoting ethical and inclusive practices, leveraging technology, and encouraging policies that support talent retention in home countries. This balanced analysis contributes to understanding how internationalization can be a powerful tool for higher education advancement when implemented thoughtfully and ethically. The findings underscore the importance of strategic planning and policy support to ensure that internationalization truly bridges borders in academia and benefits all stakeholders involved |
