Abstract: |
This study examined the influence of loyalty programs on customer spending behavior in selected retail stores in Valencia City and Malaybalay City. Specifically, it assessed the effectiveness of loyalty programs in terms of program benefits, program availability, participation requirements, point structure, simplicity of program design, communication quality, and expiration policy. A quantitative descriptive-correlational research design was utilized, with data collected from 384 respondents through a structured survey questionnaire. Statistical tools such as weighted mean, independent t-test, Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression were employed to analyze the data. The findings revealed that loyalty programs were generally rated effective, particularly in terms of offering a wide range of rewards and being simple to understand. A significant difference in customer spending behavior was observed between loyalty program holders and non-holders. Furthermore, a strong positive correlation existed between loyalty program attributes and customer spending behavior. Among the seven loyalty program attributes, expiration policy, simplicity of program design, participation requirements, and program benefits emerged as the strongest predictors of increased customer spending. These findings highlight the importance of designing effective, accessible, and clearly communicated loyalty programs to influence customer purchasing patterns. The study provides practical insights for retailers and marketing professionals seeking to enhance customer engagement and encourage long-term loyalty. |
