Abstract: |
This study examined the prevalence of alcohol consumption among college students at Central Mindanao University. It focus on assessing the types of alcoholic beverages consumed, frequency of consumption, and alcohol content. The study also examined the significant difference in the level of consumption patterns of alcoholic beverages among Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management students when grouped according to demographic profile, such as age, gender and year level. Data were collected by employing an adaptive questionnaire given to Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management students in Central Mindanao University. The result showed that drinks with lower alcohol content were consumed more frequently than those with higher alcohol content, reflecting a clear preference for lighter options where most participants aged 20, followed by 21. Third-year students had the highest representation, while fourth-year students had the smallest population. Significant differences in alcohol consumption were observed between individuals aged 21 and under and those aged 22 and older, particularly for rum, Whiskey, vodka, brandy, and wine. Gender differences were minimal in light drink consumption, but males consumed more hard drinks. As a result from the findings and conclusions, the researcher made an important recommendations for further research, student organizations, and university alcohol education programs
