Abstract: This research investigates the experiences, challenges, and adaptive strategies of Filipino subject teachers assigned to teach subjects outside their area of specialization within public secondary schools in Division of Malaybalay City and Bukidnon. The study explores the motivations for choosing Filipino as a specialization, the struggles faced when teaching outside this expertise, and the coping mechanisms employed by these teachers. Data were collected through semi-structured surveys and analyzed thematically to understand the impact of out-of-field teaching on teachers' professional lives. The findings reveal a blend of cultural commitment, personal interests, and pragmatic considerations driving the choice of Filipino as a specialization. However, significant challenges arise when teaching outside this area, including content knowledge limitations, pedagogical difficulties, assessment concerns, and professional identity issues. Despite these challenges, teachers demonstrate resilience through self-directed learning, collegial collaboration, technological integration, instructional adaptation, and strategic resource management. This research underscores the need for targeted support and professional development to enhance the effectiveness and well-being of teachers teaching outside their specialization.
