Abstract: The ongoing problem of underemployment among college graduates as both academic fields and social status influence this phenomenon’s development. A college degree used to be regarded as a gateway to professional fulfilment but today numerous graduates struggle through underemployment as they dedicate more than a decade to working in unsuitable positions. The study examined underemployed college graduates in Bukidnon, Philippines to determine major factors of underemployment and suggest career transition improvement strategies. The researcher used qualitative methods with descriptive phenomenology to conduct the study. Research data collection involved study participants being interviewed and participating in focus groups so researchers could learn about actual experiences of underemployed graduates. The results show undergraduates take jobs in unrelated fields because they need to work after facing limited employment options and monetary constraints. Graduates confronted skill deficiency problems alongside adjustments in their professional settings yet they responded with proactive coping strategies and resilience practices. Graduates who experienced underemployment saw it as an opportunity for growth while using continuous learning as their main strategy. The evidence demonstrates that graduates need better support networks which should include hands-on training plus career counselling to develop their adaptability with communication abilities. Future investigations must evaluate the effects that professional development programs alongside mindset training programs deliver on the career progression rates of unemployed graduates.
